about the Illustrator, JUDITH KAREN

Judy was born to a Army family in Tokyo, Japan and traveled with them to enjoy diverse peoples and perspectives at a young age. She feels these experiences have made her flexible and able to step inside her client's minds and draw the pictures they envision.

As she raised her two children and two grandchildren, she has woven her art within her community involvement. For ten years, Judy's imaginative illustrations attracted attention and attendance to the activities of charities, opera, theatrical productions, and the Rist CanyonVolunteer Fire Department (RCVFD) in Colorado.

For over forty years, her designs have graced thousands of program covers, logos, needlework designs and wine labels but her creative energy does not stop there. She loves the hands-on magic she creates with colors and brush on theatrical sets.

Her illustration work in Birthday at Alice Dale Station is her seventh book. She enjoys collaborations and feels everyone has a wonderful story inside them that needs a little coaxing and illustration. Her pastel-pen artwork is not found only in books. Bright flowers, cool landscapes and a soot-covered train adorn the walls of collectors and raise money at the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction.

Judy is a proud member of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists, Inc. www.sosa-inc.org
